Academics
Overview
Students in Tulsa Virtual Academy receive access to high-quality, rigorous digital content supported by a certified classroom teacher. Developmental and age appropriateness are essential to our program design, allowing students to receive a balance of online and offline learning opportunities.
Students in grades Pre Kindergarten - 2nd grade engage in the digitized and print versions of our district-adopted curricula. Students in grades 3 - 5 engage in Cadence learning and ExactPath. Tulsa Virtual Academy Secondary students engage in Edmentum.
Pre-kindergarten students have access to Ready Rosie and Waterford, and all of our students use ExactPath as their personalized learning platform.
All digital learning platforms are aligned with state academic standards and help prepare students for college, career, and beyond!
Flexibility
Tulsa Virtual Academy provides students with flexibility. Flexibility teaches students to learn and practice developing and executing plans to complete assignments by a deadline.
Decision Making
Life is all about decisions and students that attend Tulsa Virtual Academy practice making them each day. Students will have important choices to make about what task they take on and when. Virtual students are given the work and supported by teachers, but are tasked with completing the work at their own pace.
Time Management Skills
Time management is a crucial skill that students will need to master to be successful in life. At the Tulsa Virtual Academy, students will have the opportunity to learn and practice time management.

Tulsa Virtual Academy will offer art to all students Pre-Kindergarten through 12th grade. Pre-K - 5th-grade students will participate in person on the day they attend blended learning (more details to come). 6th through 12th-grade students will virtually participate in their art class.
Art
In elementary grade art classes, students will explore many different aspects of visual art. Students will let their creativity flow by engaging in activities such as drawing and painting with various materials. They also learn art vocabulary, explore the work of many different artists and art movements, and learn to appreciate art as it enhances our world.
Music
In elementary grade music classes, students will learn and practice the basic fundamental elements of music such as sound, melody, harmony, rhythm, and expression (dynamics, tempo, articulation). Students will engage in singing, playing instruments, responding to music with movement, and connecting with various cultures through music. These classes will help students develop creativity, self-expression, and problem-solving while creating music together as a team. These classes will also provide students with performance opportunities, which will help them develop a sense of ensemble, tolerance, perseverance, and rigor—enabling them to be well-rounded citizens of our global society.
